Baked Apples | Outlearn Activities Guide

‘Baked apples’ is a juicy outdoor activity suitable for any age. The aim of making baked apples is to prepare, create, and cook apples over an open fire. This allows children to better understand nature, their environment and develop a foundation of wild culinary skills.

  • Apple/Sultanas/Brown Sugar
  • Cinnamon
  • Apple Corer or Knife
  • Tea Spoon (TSP)
  • Fire Kit /Water/Gloves/Bucket

Explanation

Core the apple then put it in the middle of a square of tinfoil. Mix together a spoonful of sultanas, a spoonful of brown sugar and a pinch of cinnamon. Carefully put this into the core of the apple then wrap the tinfoil around it. Put the foiled apple carefully in the fire and leave it to cook for 10-15 minutes.

Make sure your adhering to best practise with regard to fire management and group management around a fire. Be careful when opening the foiled apple.
