Storyboard Shapes | Outlearn Activities Guide

Telling a story using sticks and other natural materials might be fun, but making an the characters into shapes in mind blowing. The aim of storyboard shapes is to use your imagination and artistic flare. This allows children to better understand how to make shapes to tell a story.

Explanation

Split the group into two or more teams. Each team thinks of a well-known story e.g. Jack and the Beanstalk, The Bear Hunt or The Stickman. They then make a storyboard out of shapes with sticks by making a row of three or four similar sized frames on the ground. Each team tells their story in a series of two or three dimensional pictures in the frames.

Alternatively to make this task more challenging ask them to include more shapes within their storyboard.

Safety Tips

Be aware of low lying branches when finding sticks. Be aware of others when carrying sticks. Wash your hands after the activity.
