Elf House | Outlearn Activities Guide

Suitable for young children of all abilities, ’elf house’ is a delightful outdoor activity, which aim’s to make either a home for an elf or help to build a village for all elves. This allows children to better understand nature, their environment and express creativity and imagination.

Explanation

Firstly find a good spot to start the build. This could be among tree roots, in hollow stumps, within a pile of stones, or in a dip in the ground. Search for loose natural materials such as bracken, twigs, moss, hazelnuts, fir cones, acorns, or what you can find around you.

Use these to make an elf house or have a go at making an elf village by either making loads of; elf houses, an elf meeting house, a sacred place (e.g. church) or maybe think about making a ‘bird’s eye view’ village with boundaries, gardens and roofs of buildings.

Wash your hands after the activity. Be aware of lower laying pegs around trees and shrubs.
