‘Cinnamon sugar doughnuts’ are very tasty to eat, they are even satisfying to make too. The aim of cinnamon sugar doughnuts is to make doughnuts by following a recipe. This allows children to read the recipe and work out the value for each ingredient.
- Fire Kit/Water
- Buttermilk biscuit dough (refrigerated/cool)
- Vegetable oil
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Plain Glaze (optional):
- 2 cups confectioners sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 8 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
On a cutting board, separate the buttermilk biscuit dough and use the vegetable oil cap to cut a hole in the biscuit. Heat about 2 inches of oil in a pan and add 2-3 biscuits. Fry the biscuits in the oil, flipping them over with tongs when they are golden-brown. Once the doughnuts are cooked, put them on a paper towel or plate. Put the sugar and cinnamon in a paper bag and add the doughnuts. Shake well and enjoy.
If you want to make the glaze, put the confectioners’ sugar and salt in a bowl. Add melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract and whisk until smooth. Then just dip each doughnut in the glaze and enjoy.
Make sure you are using good practise around the fire, and cooking with hot oil.
