'Would you rather?' is a great outdoor activity suitable for young children of all abilities. The aim of would you rather is to decide which option you would prefer. This allows children to better understand themselves of what they truly would like.
- A Rope
- Trivia Questions—Adapt questions to suit either the topic/ability/setting
Lay the rope out on the ground in a straight line. Ask the group to straddle the rope. When you ask a question they need to jump to the left or the right depending on where you have indicated for each answer. You can use this as an icebreaker or to reinforce previous learning and to check learning has taken place. Start each question with;
Would you rather?
|Would you rather be here||Would you rather be here|
|Eat sprouts||Eat broccoli|
|Wearing wellies||Wear trainers|
|Use a fire stick||Use matches|
|Jump like a frog||Slither like a snake|
|Play with others||Play on your own|
|Be completely hairless like a worm||Be completely hairy like a rat|
|Be a beetle||Be a frog|
|Be invisible||Be able to fly|
|Be loud||Be quiet|
|Drink hot chocolate||Drink juice|
|Kiss a slug||Cuddle a worm|
Do a visual scan for any trip hazards on the floor. Space awareness—make sure that the group don’t bump into each other.
