'Networking' in life is a brilliant way to get to know others, also in this activity as well. The aim of networking is to find people who you have a link with. This allows children to better understand themselves, their environment, and how to ask the right questions.

Explanation

Everyone is standing and waiting for the leader to start the game. The leader starts by saying a question like, “What is your favourite colour?”. Everyone then springs into action and goes around asking, what their favourite colour is.

If you find someone with the same favourite colour as you, then you both have to link arms, and continue to find others in the group with that same colour. After a designated time (leader's discretion) the leader then says stop.

Everyone stops and the leader then asks each group to call out their colour. Everyone that is not linked then are out and the format repeats itself.

Other questions you could ask:

  • Favourite sport?
  • Funniest/Favourite teacher?
  • Favourite TV show?
  • Favourite pet?
  • What do you want to be when your older?

Variations

  • No one is out, they just don’t get a point if they are not linked.
  • After the first or second round then you can’t talk, if the leader then hears you, you are out for that round and receive no points.
  • To continue this variation, the leader stands in the middle of everyone listening closely, to make it harder for everyone to speak.
  • The more rounds, the shorter the time (round 1 is 1 minute, round 2 is 50 seconds etc).

Safety Tips

Do a visual scan for any trip hazards on the floor. Space awareness—make sure that everyone doesn’t bump into each other.
